THE POETRY OF OUR LANDSCAPES IS ALSO ART
Adding the Eastern Townships to your calendar promises a rich cultural experience in the performing arts, history and heritage, and the visual arts.
Our cultural agenda provides day-by-day information on all of the shows, exhibitions, concerts, and plays that are being presented in the region.
It is not surprising that music is in the air in the Townships because music is taught at the Camp musical d’Asbestos, the renowned Orford Musique, as well as the music departments at Bishop’s University and the Université de Sherbrooke, among other places. The Eastern Townships is also the setting for festivals like the Festival des Harmonies, the Fête du lac des Nations, and Festival Orford. Popular, jazz, and emerging music are also featured. Theatre and dance are performed on several of the region’s stages.
Cultural programming in the Eastern Townships is very eclectic. Enjoy an intimate show in Saint-Camille, contemporary dance at Centennial Theatre, comedy at the Vieux Clocher, a presentation in a mythical setting like the Granada, a high-profile performance at the Centre culturel… or an act on one of our outdoor stages.
In addition to all of the art galleries, historical sites, and museums, such as the Musée des Beaux-arts, you’ll discover fabulous murals depicting scenes from Sherbrooke’s past on a dozen of the city’s walls. Arts circuits abound; our artists are prolific in all arts and crafts in the Estrie region.
At the end of a day spent enjoying the outdoors, discovering the creations of our Créateurs de saveurs (flavour creators), exploring one of our three marked routes, engaging in a sport, or immersing yourself in deep contemplation, savour the tastes of the Townships at one of our Chefs créateurs (creative chefs) restaurants before treating yourself to a cultural experience on the stage of your choice.
